Meet the Team

Dr Katherine Cowton

Katherine graduated from Murdoch University in 2004 and went to work in Kalgoorlie for 4 years in small animal and equine practice. In 2007, she travelled around Australia and visited some amazing places! Since returning to Perth in 2009, she joined the Victoria Park & Lathlain Pets and Vets team.

Katherine has two young children, two dogs – Jimmie and Ringo, a Weiro – Petey and some goldfish! She joined our Mirrabooka team in 2016 and still works part time between the Victoria Park and Mirrabooka clinics as well as doing her essential oils business and husband’s business paperwork.

Not that there is a lot of free time amongst all that, but her hobbies include cake making, camping, water skiing and doing renovations at home.

Dr Theo Holtzhausen

Theo is our senior vet at Mirabooka Vet Hospital. He has years of experience in small animal practice from around the world. He spent his early working years in small animal practice in South Africa before moving to the the UK where he worked in London and Norwich for 2 years before emigrating to New Zealand. In Christchurch NZ he established his own successful small animal clinic before being lured by an opportunity to work with a specialist in critical care in need of some help to manage a busy surgical workload in a Sydney Clinic. In 2001 Theo established the his own Vet Clinic in Perth, eventually expanding into two clinics where he managed a demanding clinical and surgical workload between the two. Taking a sabbatical in Singapore to pursue his book writing  dream he finally returned to family and home, never tiring of his passion to care for cats and dogs in his favourite city.

Teagan started her veterinary nursing career with the Mirrabooka Veterinary Hospital in early January 2010. She started her work experience with us while she was studying for her nursing certificate as well as working with us part time as a kennel attendant.

When she graduated late December of 2010 she became a permanent member of our team and has thoroughly enjoyed working here ever since. Her American Bulldog cross Great Dane, Hunter is a familiar face around the clinic! She also has a cheeky cat called Dwight, that she adopted from the clinic and hand reared from only two days old!

When she’s not in clinic Teagan enjoys live music, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Brianna was raised on her family’s farm in the country and has grown up with animals and always wanted to work with them. This led to her completing a Vet Nursing course in 2013. Brianna has worked at a sheep stud ,as a kennel hand and vet nurse in both the country and Perth before joining the Pets and Vets Group. Brianna started working at Pets and Vets in 2016 and she can often be seen at our Lathlain Vet Clinic and occasionally at Vic Park Vet Clinic.
